Part Two: Interviewing Local Artists for Art Walking Tour

Fargo Walking Tours Artist Interview Series: Starling Hero (Lauren)

About Starling Hero (Lauren)

Starling Hero (find her on Instagram at @starlinghero) is an artist who loves making a positive impact on the community by creating public artworks such as the Mario Wall (completed with @darkelvis83, in the alley behind Pickled Parrot), and her recent mural VFW Wings (on VFW Building along 2nd Ave). Once known as Icky Hiccup (when she worked on the Mario Wall), she has since found the true artist in herself and now goes by Starling Hero. She also enjoys working on commissions for private customers. In this interview, Lauren talks about how she got started in the art community, her style of each piece, and the works she is excited to complete in the future.

Our Artist Interview Series

This interview was conducted by Civic Innovation Force Fellow DeAnna Hurley as a component of an art walking tour for Downtown Fargo. Audio interviews with Starling Hero (Lauren) and other artists are being integrated into a self-guided art walking tour to give users a look into the perspective of the artists. The walking tours being developed will provide a framework for learning, exploring, and interacting in new ways with our community, even as social distancing practices remain the norm.

Fargo Walking Tours is hosting an official launch event on Saturday, August 15 from 1 – 4pm. This is a free community event to celebrate the completion of the project. Several tour locations will host booths with activities, giveaways, and more.
